MSU CHE ’93 Alum Receives Promotion with Chevron Phillips

Elliott W.H. JohnsonAs Plant Manager, Elliott W.H. Johnson is responsible for safe and reliable operation of the Orange Plant consisting of two Polyethylene Units, Rail Logistics Operations, Maintenance and a full scale laboratory. He oversees a workforce of 150 Chevron Phillips Chemical Company employees and 25 to 30 contract employees.

In his former role as Operations Manager of Pasadena Plastics Complex in Pasadena, Texas, Elliott was focused on safe and reliable operations of Pasadena’s 3 Polyethylene units with an increased focus on improved operating discipline. Elliott was responsible for achieving the sites production budget of over 2.1 billion pounds of final products ranging from High Density Polyethylene to Linear Low Density Polyethylene Products. He was also responsible for the development and trial of new Polyethylene Products as introduced from the Pilot Plant in Bartlesville, OK.

Elliott has a broad range of experience across manufacturing, engineering and logistics. Prior to his current assignment, Elliott served as Operations Superintendent for the USGC Project at Old Ocean. Elliott has also held the positions of Project Engineer at Cedar Bayou, Operations Unit Supervisor at Cedar Bayou, Operations Manager at the Orange Plant, and Process Engineering Superintendent at Pasadena Plastics. In addition, Elliott led the successful sustained long-term production of mPACT polyethylene resins at Pasadena during his tenure as Plant 8 Operations Superintendent.

Elliott, who has 27 years of industry experience, joined Chevron Chemical in 1998 at the Cedar Bayou Plant. Prior to joining Chevron Chemical, Elliott worked 15 years in various operations, engineering, maintenance, and research development positions for Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, TN. While working at Eastman, Elliott received a U.S. Patent for his work in developing a unique scrubber system to eliminate emissions to the atmosphere by over 400 tons/yr.

Outside of work, Elliott enjoys traveling, golfing, reading and having a great time with plenty of laughs. Elliott is married to his wife Angela (also of Chevron Phillips Pasadena Plant) of 23 years and has 3 sons, Elliott Jr, Trey and Cameron.
