Welcome to the Mississippi State Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering World Wide Web site!

Do you like Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics? Are you looking for career opportunities that could involve designing the next generation of automotive catalytic converter, figuring out how to utilize sea beds for the next generation of energy sources, or using biotechnology to make alcohol from grass or wood chips? All of these cutting edge projects are being conducted by faculty members and students in the Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering at Mississippi State. If you are a prospective student interested in getting a Chemical Engineering B.S. degree, I would invite you to explore our Faculty, Student Organizations, and Undergraduate Program web pages to get a flavor for Chemical Engineering at MSU. If you already have an undergraduate degree and are looking for a place to do cutting edge research, I urge you to explore our Research and Graduate Program web pages.

The Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering is housed in a state-of-the-art building which opened in the fall of 2000. The Swalm building boasts modern, fully equipped research laboratories, state-of-the-art classrooms wired for laptops, multiple small conference rooms, a Chemical Engineering library, group study rooms for process and plant design, and a large lecture hall for classes and guest lectures. The building is named after Dave C. Swalm, who has provided scholarships, endowments, and building funds to ensure that all students studying Chemical Engineering at MSU have one of the best environments for learning engineering in the United States.

I would invite you to look over our web site, and please contact me (white@che.msstate.edu) if you have any questions, would like more information, or would like to schedule a visit to see MSU first hand. Explore and have fun! I believe you will be impressed by what we have to offer at Mississippi State.

Go Bulldogs!
