Professor W. Todd French and his colleague Professor Rafael A. Hernandez of the Dave C. Swalm School of Chemical Engineering are converting nutrients found in waste waters into an oil that can be used to replace petroleum in oil refineries. The proof of concept has been established and an utility patent is pending.
